Millie is finally over. It’s kinda sad but the next show is going to be my absolute favorite. I’m so excited to try out for my dream role. I’ve wanted to be Maria Rainer ever since I’ve loved musicals.

It was weird being a senior tonight. Ever since I was a freshman, I’ve waited to hear what madden had to say about me when he recognized me in front of the cast. And now it has happened. I mean it isn’t the last one he’ll give for me. But it was very emotional. It was the culmination of four years of fall shows and four years of waiting and wondering…

Well today was a a full day of school for me. We had no show or anything. I woke up, and went to all my classes, which is unusual lol. I almost fell asleep in first hour listening to a teacher who is kinda hard to understand.

In second hour which in my drama one class (why I’m in a freshman class as a senior who already advanced that class is a long story) I worked with a freshman who I try to really look after. We practiced a skit then we got to talking about how she’s never had a part and how she wants one in a show. I almost began crying when I told her that she had so many shows ahead of her and that she had so much time and that the sound of music was my very last show ever in high school.

In fourth hour I am Maddens assistant. And he gave me a beast of a job: to make copies of the script of the Sound of Music. I underestimated it and made ten copies. And putting these scripts together was NOT fun.

After school, I left with a script (I deserved to be paid some how lol) and then got ready to see A Chorus Line in west palm beach. The show was good. I had fun with my friends.

Well next week I’m going to new Orleans with my family and I’ve finally found a friend to go with and I’m very excited.

Tonight I have a show so I have to get ready and so that’s enough for now :)

Today we performed our show for two very different audiences. The first was for the high schoolers. This required us to get up at 4:30 in the morning which really wasn’t fun. The show started at 7:15 and the audience was pretty rowdy and at some points, rude. For instance I said a line then an audience member had a reply:

Miss Dorothy: Do I look like the sort of girl who would allow a man to take liberties?

Audience Member: Yep! You do!

So that was pretty fun. It’s always a test to see who can stay in character.

After that we had 20 minutes to change and prepare for the next show. The elementary and middle school kids came in and if they weren’t sitting there plain as day you’d never know we had an audience in there. They probably just didn’t get anything because we had to cut so much for fear we might be portraying adult themes like alcohol and contact with the opposite sex!

Well after the show I ran a few ticket errands for Madden (our director) with a new good friend of mine. We invented a new word and had a great time.

I went home and fell straight asleep. Then I woke up and did house work. My grandma came into town to see the show this weekend. Now we are enjoying The Sound of Music.

Well I actually have to go to school tomorrow. :( poop. But I am actually going to a show tomorow in west palm.

Today was the first in school performance of PSLHS’s thoroughly modern Millie. It opened this past friday on January 29. I play the role of Miss Dorothy Brown. We have worked on this show for months and it’s been a long road but we as a cast have made it to the finish line.

It wasn’t with out troubles though. In the process of this show I have lost the person who I used to consider my best friend. Yet I’ve become kind of pleased about it. As a matter of fact, everyday I am happier and happier about it as I look and see that she was merely a fair weather, fickle friend.

It is ironic that I play her best friend in the show and I say that I don’t want a fair weather friend and that I want a “stormy weather friend” like her. It makes me laugh inside when I sing that phrase.

So today we performed the show for elementary schoolers. We had to cut some dialogue, a few references to alcohol, and some speakeasy business. But tomorrow we perform the show for the pslhs student body which is always fun. It’s a test really. A test to see who can maintain their character in an intense situation. Our high school audience is known for shouting things on to the stage to make someone break character. However it’s also the most involved most fun audience to perform for.

This will be the last time I perform for the pslhs student body. I am a senior this year, bound for college (most likely at UWF in Pensacola) and this is my very last winter production.

There is however a summer musical that I still have the opportunity to perform in. This is the Sound Of Music. And it’s my all time favorite musical with my all time favorite role, Maria. It has become my obsession and will become more so after thoroughly modern Millie closes this weekend.

It will be the first time I will ever have the chance to be the star. To have a show that centers around me. As selfish as that sounds, it’s been my desire since I was a freshman.

I have been in 6 shows so far. They are Gypsy, Oliver, Beauty and the Beast, Music Man, Willy Wonka and now in Thoroughly Modern Millie. I have played the roles of Nancy, in Oliver, Marian in Music Man, Mrs. Bucket in Willy Wonka and my current role.

Well that’s enough for tonight. Got to get up in the morning :)
